Leak Detection Services
Smoke Testing
Smoke testing forces non-toxic, artificially created smoke through waste and drain pipes under slight pressure to locate the source of a reported bad odour, for example, originating from sewer and/or other drainage pipes. The smoke should be visible on the outside of the pipe/area in question pinpointing the leak.
Tracer Gas Testing
Tracer gases (no smell) are forced in to pipes and used to pinpoint water and/or gas leaks, in particular. A handheld device is moved over the area of the suspected leak and will detect minute particles of the tracer gas in the air, pinpointing the leak.
Thermal Imaging
Thermal Imaging is carried out using a handheld camera that uses the heat given off by an object to produce an image. It measures heat in different variations, represented in different colours. 95% of the services throughout our home are tucked away under floors, behind walls and in ceilings. We use this to uncover hidden leaks, pinpoint an exact location for repairs and survey water damage that is not easily visible. The camera records different temperatures in different areas indicating whether it may be wet or dry. It can be used to inspect pipes carrying mains water into and around a property, as well as waste drains carrying water away from the property.
Locate Underground Services and Utilities
Everclear Pipe & Cable have a range of locating equipment to suit most site conditions and applications. Our hand-held EMFD locator (Electro-Magnetic Frequency Detection) has the ability to pinpoint, gas, water, electricity and communications.
For PVC water and gas pipes, you will need to let go of the trusty EM locator and utilize the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Our GPR equipment is suitable for tracing services in both soil and concrete slabs.
Our experienced technicians will mark the location of services on site and may provide images and reports of our findings in need.
GPR can also feedback information not only about what is below the surface, but what precise condition it is in. So for concrete, it can also detect and locate cracks, faults, joints, voids and conduits, which can be invaluable information for a number of construction, surveying and engineering applications.
Pipe Freezing with Liquid Nitrogen
Plumbers often need to carry out repairs to, or install new pipes. Freezing the liquid inside of the pipe to form an ice plug, allows maintenance and repairs to a particular section of the pipeline.
Pipe Freezing is especially useful when it is impractical to shut down the entire water service, such as in a hospital or a multi-storey office building.
High Pressure Water Jetting
Pipes of all kinds may become blocked at one time or another for all sorts of reasons. Tree roots and debris from building works and maintenance can wreak havoc on our pipelines and sewer systems. Our high pressure water jet is equipped with specialised root-cutting nozzles that power through the thickest roots and remove debris from pipes with ease. Alternatively, our hot -water jet will unblock your grease trap/arrestor in minimal time.
CCTV – Close Circuit Camera
At some point every residential, commercial or industrial site or building will have drainage and sewer lines run into problems, needing some TLC. When these particular pipes become blocked or damaged, locating the problem and then carrying out repairs to an underground drain or pipe can be a huge undertaking.
Our CCTV camera’s are able to record the condition of most pipes, allowing plumbers and drainers to locate and assess any damage to determine their plan for repair or maintenance. We can provide our clients with a professional image of the area to be maintained or repaired in need.
